Fans of early Sunny Day Real Estate or The Promise Ring would do themselves a great disservice if they never listened to this album. Mineral's lead singer Chris Simpson would go on to do great things with other acts such as The Gloria Record and Zookeeper, but never quite captured the magic and emotion displayed in The Power of Failing. Driven by melodies and heart-felt lyrics, this album truly stands out as one of the greats.
